China is the world's largest stainless steel producer primarily to cater for its domestic demand.

Demand for nickel pig iron is strong in China . It is used by domestic Chinese stainless steel producers as an alternative for prime nickel in the production of stainless steel.

China Steel is one of the largest nickel pig iron producers in China, producing approximately 45,000 metric tonnes of nickel pig iron per annum since 2006.

China Steel has developed its own production techniques and know-how to produce high quality nickel pig iron using low-quality raw materials.

The Company has been profitable and cash flow positive other than through the global financial crisis.

On 30 April 2009, the company completed a plant upgrade and conversion to enable it to expand its product range and to also produce merchant pig iron for the domestic chinese market.

The Company is currently undertaking a four fold expansion of its production capacity.
